Nuisance Wildlife
There are animals in Woodmoor that are considered nuisance wildlife. Here are some articles to help you control them on your property.
Note that on Thursday, August 4 there will be a Bear Aware Seminar at the Woodmoor Barn (1691 Woodmoor Drive) starting at 7 p.m., provided by the Colorado Division of Wildlife (CDW) and sponsored by Woodmoor Public Safety.
For information about how to deal with Bears in Woodmoor, please see the information from the CDW provided below at this link.

The following information was provided by Bob Fenkel, Lead Volunteer of the Bear Aware Team of the Colorado Division of Wildlife:
Here is the “standard” bear aware email I usually send out to folks whom I speak to about bears and lions. You can follow the hyper links here to all the latest information that the Division of Wildlife has created for “living” with bears. Feel free to print off whatever you like, or forward this email to whomever. If you would like additional materials such as the “Living with Bears” brochure, hard copies of all the flyers, the Bear Aware DVD, or some coloring books on bear aware just let me know. This link gets you to all information: Living with bears in Colorado as well as the Mountain Lion page. Here is also a link to the "Mountain Lion Safety" video. I always tell people to remember to make noise and talk to the bear or lion. Bears typically exhibit an “ignore” behavior because they rarely get negative reinforcement. Everything is a positive food reward. So make some noise, like clapping your hands and throw a rock or a pop can filled with pebbles at the bears butt.
Every year, the DOW must take on the difficult task of putting down bears that have been habituated to human-provided food. This can be avoided if all people practice and encourage ‘bear aware’ behaviors in their area, and make an effort to remove all attractants (bird feeders, trash, compost piles, etc.).
Since human behavior is the key, (the bears don’t listen to me), the DOW has created downloadable pieces for the use of residents who live in bear country. I hope you not only get some use of these links but also enjoy learning more about bears. Please feel free to pass this email along to others.

So don’t forget to make noise and toss rocks at the bear! If we can be of further assistance, just let us know.
