Monument PD has posted a press release dated 09/13/16 reporting a “series of thefts from vehicles occurring overnight in the Monument area.  Criminals are illegally entering into unlocked vehicles and taking valuables. The Monument Police Department is encouraging everyone to please ensure they lock their car doors and to not leave valuables in plain view, or better yet, take valuables out of vehicles”.

On 09/12/16, WPS had a report of an unlocked vehicle entered and items taken.  This occurred in the central area of Woodmoor just east of Lewis Palmer Elementary School.

Also, several burglaries have been reported in Palmer Lake and Gleneagle where suspects are entering the homes at night through unlocked windows.  Suspects are taking small electronics, wallets, keys to vehicles, and then the vehicles.

We encourage everyone to make sure their basement and main floor windows are closed and locked, and that their garage doors are closed when not in use.

Remember, if you see something in your neighborhood that does not look right, or someone looking in vehicles, please call WPS at 499-9771, EPSO dispatch at 390-5555, or if it is urgent call 911.
